Leave Alcohol Behind

Realising that you need or want to stop drinking will kick up all sorts of emotions

Are you ready to leave alcohol behind?

Realising that you want to stop drinking will kick up all sorts of emotions, good and bad … apprehension, excitement, resentment, fear, anticipation. You may be wondering if you even have a drink problem at all?

I work with professional women who recognise themselves as Grey Area Drinkers, stuck in that confusing space between presenting like a ‘normal’ drinker to the outside world, but constantly worrying and stressing about it. The brilliant women I work with are often the definition of high functioning, acing it for all the world to see, but they secretly worry about their drinking and often regret (and forget) what they said or did. They want to have more control but are terrified of what that means for every other element of their work, social and family life.

Is that you? The good news is that you don’t have to worry about anything beyond the day you start working with me as your coach. So, that holiday in three months? Park it for now. Ditto birthdays, weddings, and weekends away, because by the time they come around, you’ll have a plan.

You will be taking it day-by-day, looking at how to re-set your thinking about drinking until you are happily in control and, importantly, celebrating the positive changes you are experiencing, both mentally and physically.

Of course, you will need to dig deep sometimes! We are talking about changing behaviours that might have taken decades to instil and challenging myths you believe to be true, both about yourself and the world around you. You will be asked to check in regularly, dig deep, and fully commit to a lot of thinking and planning.

You will learn that planning is your superpower. You’ll plan how you will overcome situations where you normally drink, plan to overcome triggers, plan treats, plan what to tell people, plan new experiences.
